The structure of the assignment is flexible, but must include three aspects:
a. An overview of the methodology, including how it elucidates underlying neural
function,
b. Advantages and disadvantages (i.e., strengths and limitations) of the
technique, and
c. To help describe the neuroimaging technique, include at least three pieces of
primary research using the technique to study a specific behaviour / psychological
experience / condition, and how the findings enhance the scientific understanding
of the behaviour / experience / condition.
3. All research must be from academic peer-reviewed sources, and consideration must
be given to the validity and reliability of the research methods and findings
4. The word limit is 1,500 words (+/- 10%), excluding the cover sheet and the reference
list (but including in-text citations, quotes, figures and tables)
You must use APA 7th referencing style for your bibliography and in-text citations. Follow
the ‘How to reference in APA style’ guidelines exactly: https://libguides.scu.edu.au/apa
8. The main skills being assessed here are: research skills; understanding of technique and
relevance to neurological function; critical thinking; clarity of expression; correct
terminology when it comes to the technique and neurological / psychological correlates;
the ability to identify and explain the most relevant aspects of a complex topic concisely
and accurately (and in your own words); appropriate referencing.
