Question: Drawing on three examples, analyze how cities have shaped their surrounding environments and impacted sustainability.
o Must be preceded by a clear outline.
o Must develop an answer to the essay question with a clear argument and a convincing balance of analysis and evidence.
o Must draw evidence from lectures from a minimum of three (3) clusters. Synthesize ideas from different parts of the course and emphasize the connections between examples. If you cite evidence from just one cluster or two, your maximum grade for argument and evidence is 9/15.
o Must include a minimum of 300 words. There is no maximum word limit, although length is not synonymous with quality. Within the time constraints, write a substantial essay with a strong level of supporting detail.
o May incorporate evidence from the readings and ESS Lecture series, in addition to evidence from the course lectures.
o Should include general references but does not require formal APA citations. When you refer to examples and ideas, give an indication of where that information comes from. For example, (Andrew lecture from Cluster 1) or (Mannell lecture about Toronto) or (Kehoe, ESS Lecture).
o May not include information from sources beyond the class. Outside evidence will be disregarded during grading.
