Just as it’s important to recognize the purpose and methodology of technical writing, understanding the facets of an audience and how to meet its needs is critical for technical writers. In preparation for your contributions to the course discussion on the audience, read pages 89-108 from Chapter 5. Then, explain why it is important to identify the target audience of a document or presentation. Finally, describe at least four techniques that you would use to learn about your audience.
