Concept maps have long provided visual languages and have been widely used in many different disciplines as a way to present a person’s knowledge of a subject. Concept mapping is a particularly good way of organizing information related to a subject area, in this case, the interrelatedness of People, Work and Society.
The construction of a concept map helps us pull together information we already know about a subject while integrating new information as we learn and expand our understanding.
A map can also provide a kind of visual road map showing some of the pathways we may take to connect meanings of concepts using propositions (the connecting narrative, or justifications for linkages). They provide the scaffolding of an effective essay
