First, read the GradeSaver website pages devoted to Beckett’s Act without Words 1 (see the link for this website below). Find two statements on this website about the play with which you agree, and one statement on this website about this play with which you disagree. For each statement, prepare at least one paragraph in your essay which clearly, specifically, and in detail explores that statement and your response to it. (Again: prepare three body paragraphs. Two of these paragraphs will explore –in detail– ideas made on the website about the play with which you agree. One paragraph will explore a statement about the play made on the website with which you do not agree.) In addition to the three body paragraphs, include a well-crafted introductory paragraph and a proper concluding paragraph in your essay, as well.
Suggested Outline:
I. Introduction paragraph
II. Body (three or more paragraphs)
Body Paragraph 1 (Explore a statement on the website with which you agree)
Body Paragraph 2 (Explore a statement on the website with which you agree)
Body Paragraph 3 (Explore a statement on the website with which you disagree)
III. Conclusion paragraph
Use ONLY the GradeSaver Act without Words 1 home page and the links available to other pages on that website to get your ideas. If you fail to follow this rule, your essay will fail.
This is your last homework assignment of the semester. Be sure that it is work of high quality.
1. Be sure that your essay follows the rules of MLA formatting (use the 8th ed. rules, as elsewhere in this course). This means that the website and the play MUST be properly documented. Failure to follow this rule will mean failure of the paper. For the successful completion of this essay, you must document a YouTube video and a reading from a website. You will see helpful links for those templates below.
2. Be sure that your essay is a college-level essay: It must have a thoughtful introduction, a functional conclusion, and at least three well-developed and detailed paragraphs prepared to the stipulations above. Failure to follow this rule will mean failure of the paper.
3. Be sure that your grammar, sentence structure, spelling, and organization are correct. Failure to follow this rule will mean failure of the paper.
4. Be sure that your paper is 4 pages (yes, including the works cited) minimum in length, is double spaced, has a twelve point Times New Roman font, and has absolutely no padding (no extra-wide spacing, no extra-long quotations, etc.). There is no need for you to quote more than a total of three sentences for this paper. Any more than that will be looked at as excessive.
