Is the scientific realism debate a “philosophical pseudo problem” as Dicken suggests?
See book and use it as main litterature.
– Please start your essay by stating the question you are addressing. A title is also nice to include, but not necessary.
– Aim to present a coherent argument throughout the essay. Explain what you are arguing for in the Introduction, and what your main conclusion will be. Then spend the body of the essay developing this argument, which you should summarise at the end in a Conclusion paragraph (sections don’t need to be labelled or titled, but can be if you find it useful). Part of the grade depends on how well you argue for your view (“sound judgement”).
– Part of the grade also depends on originality (“independent thinking”) – so it’s great if you have an original argument, or at least have original thoughts that are used to comment on or criticise other arguments that you are considering.
– It should be a rigorous philosophical analysis! Consider some objections and possible responses to your view.
– Remember to include in-text citations, including page numbers to the sources you use.
– Remember to include a bibliography at the end.
