Write a focus paper on the necessity of projects as vehicles to accomplish an organization’s strategic goals.

Include in your argument:

– The evolving changes in the world that will affect the way you manage projects,

– What human and organizational changes you think will allow for the improvement of project management and,

– What alternative to project management do you see evolving.

Remember, a focus paper is an argumentative essay that attempts to persuade the reader of the truth or plausibility of a specific claim or position. A focus paper is NOT a summary, commentary, journal entry, personal reflection, analysis, compare and contrast essay, or an expository essay. The objective is NOT to convey information, show how much you know, or analyze a text. Rather, the primary goal is to persuade the reader that an important, interesting, and debatable thesis is true or plausible, and that the alternative position is untenable.

Please note that the assignment should be 4 pages in length (excluding title page and the reference page) following APA format 6th edition. Make sure to submit the assignment as a word document. Include references at the end of the assignment.

Overview

Direct and Manage Project Work

The process of directing and managing project work involves how the projects are lead and performed. Managing projects is tough work, to be sure. Successful project managers have developed the skill of working with a wide variety of stakeholders, including the customer, sponsor, vendors, and regulators.

There’s so much to do when managing projects, and the chance for error can be high. However, project managers are not expected to be perfect. They will make mistakes, right? The key, though, is to identify an issue or error early in the process so that corrective action can be taken. From a risk perspective, the later a change is made, the costlier it is to the project.

The project manager is hired to manage the constraints, which include time, cost, scope, quality, risk, customer satisfaction, and resources. When making any decision, the project managers should make sure to evaluate the impact of the change on the rest of the project. As part of this effort, we can discuss with the project team for guidance. They understand the project well, and most of them are subject matter experts (SMEs) in their respective discipline.
