Service-Learning Action Project:

The service action project’s main point is for you to understand how the increase in carbon dioxide relates to you, and what you can do to help this huge problem that is detrimental to marine organisms in three ways, 1) increasing sea surface temperatures 2) ocean acidification, and 3) sea level rise.

Please explore the following website on Carbon Reduction Challenge (CRC). CRC is a Challenge designed by Dr. Kim Cobb. Students will be doing a simplified version of her challenge. You will work on your Carbon Challenge by yourself.

Your assignment this week is to:

Click on scenario 1 to rank the solutions by size (largest at the top). What is the rank of Health and Education?

https://drawdown.org/solutions/health-and-education (Links to an external site.)

  1. How many gigatons of CO2equivalent can be averted (Reduced/sequestered) by the global health and education?
  2. Discuss the top ranked solutions that were surprising to you. Did you already know that these were great contributors to increased atmospheric CO2concentrations? Why or why not?
  • Submit the answers to the questions above in a paragraph form and cite your resources. MLA or APA is acceptable.

In the future (not this assignment), you will have to calculate CO2 averted . This calculations will be rough estimate. I will not grade on accuracy; I want to see your thought process.
