Assignment: Personal Core Values and Beliefs Paper
Summarize your core beliefs and value system (personal philosophy) as they apply to your personal life, clinical practice, and/or research interests. Think about them before writing the summary and briefly discussing their etiology and evolution in subsequent paragraphs. 7 pages in length.
Please be mindful these are questions to guide your thinking along with the assigned readings on core values and beliefs. They are not to be answered in a Q&A format.
1. What is “right or good” and what is “wrong, bad or evil”? Consider the etiology of these values and developmental criteria from your own life experiences. (Note: based on my life experiences I believe what God says is right or good along with following policies and procedures of a position and the psychological code of ethics. I believe it’s wrong to treat others unfairly or lie to them when in treatment. I also believe it’s wrong to tell someone about confidentiality or have them sign a consent form and not abide by the written document.) please elaborate on this in the paper with outside sources if needed……
2. What are your assumptions about the nature of human beings? How responsible are people for themselves and their actions? What are your definitions of: Values, beliefs, ethics, morality, and conscience? (Note: my assumptions about the nature of human beings is the although we are born into sin all humans are innately good and can naturally make good decisions on their own and if they are taught correctly in the home. Please define values, beliefs ethics, morality and conscience and please elaborate on my thoughts in the paper with outside sources if needed…….
3. Which values have drawn you to become a psychologist? How are these values reflected in the type of work you are doing and/or intend to do? How does psychology operate in legal agency for the government, Federal & state, and corporate values and interests? How do psychologists operate as agents for governmental state and private corporate interests? (Note: The values that have drawn me to become a psychologist is my desire to help individuals suffering from a mental illness that also need assistance and guidance in recognizing their spirituality and becoming health conscience of their health.
