For students unfamiliar with a discussion forum, it is an asynchronous discussion (occurring at different times) between students on a topic or assigned article. It is not a chat room or a virtual classroom where students have a synchronous discussion (interact at the same time) that entails submitting comments and/or responses to comments. Rather students post comments to the board; read other student comments and respond; or start a new discussion (thread) for other students to read and respond. The awarding of points is based on the content of the student’s statement or responses posted to the Forum.All students are required to respond to a minimum of three initial posts submitted by their classmates. This response cannotbe a simple “I agree” or “You made an excellent point.” Rather, the response should consist of 70 to 100 words. A total of 15 points has been assigned to this discussion forum. Students who fail to submit the minimum word requirements will have 5 points deducted from the 15-point total for this assignment.
