Discuss the following proposition in relation to “Stardust” and “The Tempest:” “The reason fantastical texts continue to matter is because the stories they tell us continue to ask questions about our hopes and dreams.” Does the story of Tristran’s quest in Stardust pose questions about our dreams of finding romantic love? What questions might the stories of the diverse characters on Prospero’s island pose about our hopes and dreams? Identify which stories you believe might (or might not) pose questions of our hopes and dreams. Further, it is important to comment on whether you believe this capacity to pose questions about our hopes and dreams is unique to fantastical (as opposed to realist) stories. It would be an added bonus to analyse some of the images. You should show awareness that Neil Gaiman (author) and Charles Vess (illustrator) are jointly responsible for Stardust.
