Week 4: Key Assignment 2
Observe a program for young children in your area. Identify elements that align with constructivist theories of learning and teaching. For this assignment, you should take a broad view as you observe, keeping in mind the following questions:
How would you describe the teacher’s role?
How would you describe the children’s roles?
How are materials displayed and used?
How are learning experiences presented and implemented?
How are conflicts handled?
Take notes on these and any other elements you feel are important. Prepare a brief presentation on how the program you observed compares to the constructivist practices you have read about. No individual student information should be identified.
Review the following steps for creating a podcast.
Identify the objective and main points of the lesson.
Compose a script of the audio you will read for the podcast.
Research audio clips to enhance the lesson (must be public domain and copyright free); use a minimum of two audio clips.
Save audio clips or links.
Practice the script (you will be reading), record it, and then listen to it.
Set up equipment. (Do you need anything for added sound effects?)
Record the podcast in short segments, aim for 3–4 minutes
Save frequently as you record.
Review the podcast.
Publish and share link or upload podcast to D2L
