Ai Weiwei and Social Practice

1. In your short response (5-7 sentences), what work(s) by Ai Weiwei do you consider social practice and why?  Be sure to justify using the definition you read from the Tate!

Not all of Ai Weiwei’s work can be classified as social practice but some definitely can!
First, read the Tate Modern’s definition of (https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/s/socially-engaged-practice) art form.
Does this still feel a little unusual?  We have seen architecture, and many art objects, and we have deliberated on the value of performance.  Social practice is different and can involve traditional art objects or processes, but the engagement of the public is a big part of the work.  Here is French street artist JR if you would like to see another example of social practice.
