Sociological Research and Analysis

Data analysis in sociological research is one of the most challenging stages for researchers. Analyzing the collected data and turning it into a written thesis or report is not accessible, even for experienced researchers. Data analysis in sociological research means diversity, creativity, and flexibility. Every research has different characteristics and requires some new and creative approaches in data analysis. For this reason, the researcher is expected to develop a data analysis plan for her/his research by reviewing the existing data analysis methods based on the characteristics of both the research and the data collected. In the case of quantitative research, it can be said that the analysis process is relatively more standardized, at least in the statistical context. However, this still requires creativity. It is emphasized that data analysis methods in qualitative research cannot be standardized, and standardizing data analysis will limit the qualitative researcher. It is stated that standardized data analysis will adversely affect obtaining rich and in-depth results by the data available through research. The entire analysis process, whether quantitative or qualitative analysis, is of great importance. In this context, it is expected to write an essay that reveals the prominent analysis techniques in quantitative and qualitative research, the most used analysis techniques, their basic features, and how they should be applied.
