Firm-level analysis
Explaining firm-level outcomes based on information available from the Orbis database
You are required to carry out a firm-level analysis explaining one or more firm-level outcomes based on secondary data available from the Orbis database, which you can access via the University’s online Library Services.
For example, you could investigate how firm characteristics such as age and size (predictor or independent variables) affect firm performance such as solvency and profitability (outcome or dependent variables).
You must design and execute an empirical (i.e. evidence-based) methodology by extracting, presenting, describing, preparing and analysing the data using a variety of statistical techniques.
You should then provide a written report of your methodology, computations and findings
Finally, you should discuss how qualitative methods could be used to support or expand the research study.
