DIRECTIONS:

Write a 10-12 page business plan for a new nonprofit startup. Your plan must include the following as well as use these defined sections as your level headings:

SECTION 1
• Problem and Solution section to include a comparative analysis of other service providers
• SWOT analysis of current community services
• Target client population
• Mission, vision, and values statements

SECTION 2
• The Team–Board of directors, staffing, volunteers, etc.
o What positions need to be filled immediately?
 What experience or education is needed?
o What positions do you intend to fill in the future?
 What qualifications will you seek?
 When will they be added? (3 mos., 6 mos., 1 year)
 Approximate level of compensation
 Other incentives?
o Create a human resource flow chart
o Leadership Initiative empowerment statement

SECTION 3
• Milestones or key performance indicators with a timeline, including “assumptions and risks”
• Strategic alliances or partnerships—what groups can you work with to create “synergy” for the cause?
• A market analysis with a donor or funding focus—who can best help you? What other donors might you approach?
• Financial plan & sustainability
• Assessment—when and how will the success of the organization be evaluated? How will necessary adjustments be performed in the organization?

CONCLUSION
• Brief overview of findings and recommendations
Your paper must be:
• 10-12 pages in length (not including the cover page and reference page)

Written in Word using APA format. It should include the following:
o A cover page
o An APA approved font and size, double-spaced
o 5-8 in-text citations to support main points
o A reference page with full APA references for each in-text citation used for support.
