Theme Analysis Paragraph

Task:
You will write an expository paragraph discussing the theme of the short story On the Sidewalk Bleeding by Evan Hunter.

Expository Paragraph Overview:
Every time you answer a question you use exposition. It’s a way to present information, opinions and ideas. In good expository paragraph the thesis (the main ideas of the paragraph) should be stated in the first or second sentences. The body of the paragraph is devoted to illustrating or proving your thesis. It can be accomplished by providing examples, comparisons, reasons or drawing analogies. The use of transitional devices lends coherence to your answer. In the conclusion your original thesis is rewritten in a memorable way.

Success Criteria
Include a minimum of TWO quotes from the story to support your theme statement.
All quotations must be smoothly integrated into the text of your paragraph.
Proper citation is key, you must include the page number for each quote that you are using in your analysis.
Theme analysis paragraph must be typed, 12 font and follow proper MLA format.
Proof read your assignment in order to ensure good flow and to fix and grammar and spelling mistakes.
Paragraph should be objective and written in the third person.
Use the exemplar on the back of the handout to help guide you.
Class time must be used properly, and your assignment must be submitted on time.
