Module Aims and Summary
This 10 credit module aims to provide an understanding of the role of the nurse as an educator within the contexts of patient and nurse education. Students will examine the principles and evidence that underpins approaches to Nursing and Midwifery Education. Particularly Part 2- Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment) (NMC, 2018) are applied in practice. This module will enable the students to explore and understand the role of the Practice Supervisor (in association with the Practice Assessor and Academic Assessor) through reflective practice and the novice to expert model. This -professional learning and working through supporting and supervising peers of a multidisciplinary team. The contribution of learning theory will be explored to illustrate application in the planning and delivery of teaching for junior and fellow students utilising perspectives from professional and educational literature. Intended Module Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the student should be able to:
1. Facilitate peer teaching and self-directed learning through sharing knowledge, effective communication, and teamwork.
2. Develop inter-professional learning and work through the supervision of fellow students.
3. Recognize appropriate learning styles of individual learners to integrate theory and practice.
4. Understand the culture of learning and the challenges involved within this type of clinical learning environment.
