Management roles and principles
Introduction
The purpose of this assignment is to synthesize the concepts learned in this course and demonstrate an understanding of management roles and principles.
Instructions
Using your textbook and at least one other credible reference, write an essay that demonstrates your knowledge of course concepts and addressed the prompts below. Support your responses with credible research, specific details and examples. The minimum length requirement for this essay is 1500 words.
Paper Structure
Structure your paper as follows:
1. Intro paragraph
a. Identify a specific managerial position that you are interested in (e.g. departmental director, facility manager, etc.). This position can be one that exists at your current place of employment or at a place where you would one day like to work.
b. State your thesis (main idea) and identify the main points that you will cover in the body of your paper.
2. Body Paragraphs
a. Discuss the responsibilities associated with your desired position and describe the management competencies required to fulfill them.
b. Explain how you will apply your management skills in your desired position with respect to each of the topics covered in this course. Each of these topics should contain a detailed response along with a plan to use specific techniques and examples that you learned in your textbook.
These topics should include:
• Management theory applied
• Anticipated challenges, conflict, and problem solving (leadership style, leadership domains)
• Motivation (intrinsic & extrinsic motivation, motivational strategies)
• Organizational behavior (levels of organizational behavior)
• Teamwork
• Human resource management (workforce planning, recruitment)
• Cultural competency
• Financial Management (SWOT, budgeting, marketing)
