Infant Directed Speech

Review pages 160-163 in your textbook, including the “From Research to Practice” and “Developmental Diversity and Your Life” boxes. Begin your post by providing your own example of infant-directed speech. Your example can be a hypothetical or a real-life one. The person using infant-directed speech could have been yourself or infant-directed speech you observed being used by another adult. Include the words as well the features used, such as a description of the pitch, general intonation and whether words were separated. Next, discuss the role of differing use of diminutives and differing responses to children’s requests, based on gender. Describe an example of one of these differences and provide your perspective of whether such differences decrease as the child ages or whether the differences make an impact into adulthood based on textbook content. Your post should consist of at least 200 words.
