Aviation futurist
A business futurist is not a fortune teller who makes claims based on unexplained mystical forces that may or may not exist in the universe. Rather, a futurist is a type of consultant who makes predictions about an industry based on solid facts, current developments, industry trends and scientific research and discovery. Their job is to help companies predict what an industry will look like in the near- and far-term to assist the company in its medium- and long-term planning.
Your assignment is to play the part of an aviation futurist and predict what the aviation industry, or some part of it, will look like in the next 10 to 50 years so that your client will be able to plan for the next big market opportunity. Your paper is to be written as if it is addressing a client, which will be a fictitious aviation firm of your choice. This firm can be an aircraft manufacturer, drone entrepreneur, an airline, a maintenance service provider, or a fractional jet company. The choice is yours.
You will need to include each of the following elements, and the associated criteria for each of the elements, in your research paper.
• Title page: Include title of paper, course title, full name, and semester/year.
• Executive summary: This should be the first part of your paper. It should be labeled, “Executive Summary” and should be no more than 100 words. Although it comes first, it should be written last, as it will serve to summarize the entire work.
• Body: The main element of your paper where you will explain your predictions to your client, including the rationale for those predictions. Make sure you are backing up your claims throughout your paper with APA-cited research. This section of your paper will also explain to the client firm how it can use this information to capitalize on the market in the medium- and long-term.
• Conclusion: Sum up your work and provide closure in this section
• Works cited. Your paper should include at least 2 citations from reputable sources. Wikipedia will not count as a reputable source. That is not to say that Wikipedia does not have valuable, reliable, fact-based information. It simply means that somebody else (Wikipedia) did the research for you.
Your paper should be formatted with normal 1” margins and double-spaced line spacing. Use a 12-point font that is easily readable (Times New Roman, Arial… (NOT Forte or Gigi)).
Your paper should be 3 to 5 pages in length, not including the title page or the Works cited. With those two items included, I would expect you to submit a 5- to 7-page document.
