Analyze Order Information
Write a research essay that analyzes 4-5 articles over a historical event.
Someone interested in learning about a historical event and your thoughts about articles focused on the event
Length: At least 4 full, typed, double-spaced pages
Pick a specific historical event (listed in this assignment section) as your subject. If you want to, you may stick with the event you wrote about in the “Body Paragraphs 1 Assignment.” This means you may use/adapt the paragraphs you wrote for that assignment as part of this assignment.
Compose an essay that contains these elements (don’t create the elements in this order):
- Title
- Compose an interesting phrase
Avoid generic or too general titles, such as “The Cuban Missile Crisis”
Introduction paragraph (no longer than 10 lines)
- Begin with an attention-getting “hook” (not a question).
- Introduce your historical event and state your argument(main idea). Your main idea should convey that the rest of the essay will analyze articles about the event.
Body paragraphs
Each paragraph should focus on a different article and include each of the following elements.
Also, you should have 4-5 body paragraphs.
In the first sentence, introduce the article’s title, author(s), and main idea.
The rest of the paragraph should mention 1-3 ideas from the article that you learned and discuss them. Discuss…
- why this part of the article resonated with you
- why an idea is relevant to society/the world today
- why the article surprised you
- how the idea/part sparks your interest in more aspects of the event
- anything else you find interesting about the part/idea
Conclusion paragraph
- Provide closure for your essay.
- Avoid bringing up new supporting ideas or just repeating your argument statement.
