Community Public Meeting #1
Students will be required to attend 2 meetings (valued @25 points each) in the community setting: agency/organization boards of directors, boards of supervisors/city council, or meetings of legislative subcommittees. It is recommended that both meetings be observed in-person, but due to unforeseen circumstance, the professor will allow students to observe one meeting virtually. REMINDER: Only one of the two required meetings can be observed virtually.
The assignment must be in APA format (12 hint size, Times New Roman. appropriate grammar, use critical thinkino), not 0/A format. The assignment should include but not limited to the following:
- Briefly discuss the community in which the meeting was held (region of the state, county, population, etc.)
- Discuss the type of meeting/. Elaborate.
- What was the purpose of the meeting. Explain.
- Was the meeting virtual or in-person? Explain. If virtual attached the link to the assignment
- How was the meeting publicized? Elaborate.
- Who facilitated the meeting? Was it a board or an individual?
- Who were the participants in the meeting?
- Discuss the communication patterns and styles during the meeting.
- Discuss the meeting agenda (time, location, population served, agenda items, etc.)
- Did the facilitator stay on the printed agenda line items? Explain.
- Discuss the issue(s) that were addressed in the community meeting.
- Discuss the brainstorming section of the community meeting. Elaborate.
- What would you have done differently as the facilitator?
- Identify 1-2 skills you felt the facilitator done successfully in the meeting. Be specific, give examples, elaborate, etc.
- What were the main benefits of the meeting? Elaborate.
- Discuss any challenges that may have occurred during the meeting. Elaborate.
- Discuss the plan of action for the community as a result of the meeting. Elaborate.
- How did the meeting conclude? Elaborate.
- Identify 3 take-a-ways you took from the meeting?
