Mental health in the African American community in relation to other races.

The purpose of this qualitative research and the use of case study is to understand mental illness in the African American community. It is to explore mental illness in this community for individuals at Governers State University. At this stage in the research, the black or African American community will be generally defined as people of African descent. It will also seek, if age or gender of this population is affected, and the rate. Factors that influence an African American individual or a particular race from receiving the same treatment as the other races. Access to care or improving the quality of care, this would do much to eliminate mental health care disparities. However, diverse mental health providers and patient education are important to eliminating mental health care disparities. Previous studies of this population have shown the need to study this community and the lack of information on the subject matter of mental illness within the black or African American community. Are African Americans at a disadvantage to receiving mental health treatment?
