Unit VII Discussion Board Post

Now, let’s focus on Unit VII. During this Unit, we will continue to explore project control. Earned value provides the precise information needed to understand the health of the project in terms of schedule and budget. However, once this information is known, the question becomes “what now?” Earned value is a technique for monitoring the project, but monitoring is not the same as control. Control is accomplished by the actions of the project manager and project team in response to the signals presented by the earned value metrics. Additionally, project control involves steering the project back after it has drifted away from the baseline project goals for scope, schedule, and budget. These are the core elements of the triple constraint, and they are observed to be interlinked, thereby making project control quite a management challenge.
Assignment
Consider a situation in your workplace or in daily life where you had to complete a series of activities in half the time that you originally planned. Describe what it was, how you did it, and if you brought in extra help to do it. Also, were you successful at achieving the revised target? What, if anything, went wrong?
