Data Analysis and communicating Insights
Assignment Requirements
Purpose of the Assignment Business analytics is on the rise. Firms increasingly require the skills of talented business analysts to deliver data models, insights and managerial solutions. This assignment provides students with the opportunity to explore the basic quantitative skills for conducting data analyses and communicating research results.
Requirements
You are required to develop a research paper that addresses the top management’s concern about consumer reactions to product recalls due to safety reasons. As shown in the data set: GPR.sav along with the survey questionnaire, there are a number of variables that can be considered. You task is to choose the variables of interest and conduct the following types of data analyses:
1) Descriptive analysis on the background of product safety incidents, the major sources of incident information, as well as the baseline information of the sample;
2) Appropriate mean difference analyses using independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test, and ANOVA analysis; and
3) A multiple regression analysis on the variables of your interest. Brief justification and hypothesis statements are expected for each type of the inferential statistical methods.
Suggested Outline of the Research Report
1. An engaging title of the research
2. Purpose of the research (100-150 words)
3. Descriptive analyses (see Chapters12 for basic concepts and Chapter 16 for communicating insights)
4. Inferential analyses Univariate Analyses (see Chapters 13 for concepts and description) o Independent-sample t-test o Paired sample t-test o ANOVA analysis Multivariate Analyses (see Chapters 14 &15 for references) o Multiple regression analysis
5. Managerial Implications (100 words) Appendix (SPSS outputs, when necessary)
