Radical revision
Your Task:
First you will determine your audience, which you’ll then need to analyze. This will help you select your genre, which you will then analyze. You’ll demonstrate this work by submitting a Rhetorical Addendum with your final radical revision. We’ll work on this addendum before and during the drafting of your radical revision, as it will inform your writing choices.
Your job in this Rhetorical Addendum is to show what you know about your audience and genre, and explain how it shaped your final product, as follows:
- Describe who your audience is, why you selected them , and what you know about this audience that will help you successfully write to them. Then discuss a few specific writing choices that you made in your radical revision based on your audience awareness. Research your audience! Cite any sources that you used to research your audience and include them in your references or works cited page.
- Discuss the genre that you are producing to reach this audience and why it is appropriate for writing to them. Explain what you have learned about your genre that is enacted in your radical revision and how you learned it. Provide citations or links for genre samples and “how to” resources that you used.
Your genre will determine your radical revision length; select a genre that will require at least 750 words . Your rhetorical addendum should be ~650+ words.
