- apply paraphrasing, summarizing and citation skills
- craft a unified, coherent and cohesive essay
Task
You will read an article on Radiologists’ Ethical and Professional Responsibilities (Love & Gunderman, 2020).
In the article, the writers argued on the importance of thinking and reasoning by saying that “[a] radiologist who simply follows a code of ethics or a policy manual without know why is merely going through the motions. We need to do the right thing, but we also need to know why”. Do you agree with the author’s reasoning?
In a one-page essay of 600-650 words, respond to the article by analysing and discussing the way the topic was argued and presented (refer to critical thinking frameworks). Your essay should contain: an Introduction to point the reader to the text being discussed, the thesis of your essay, as well as a Conclusion paragraph with final thoughts related to the thesis. Your response will be marked for depth of discussion and effectiveness of writing.
Your response should move beyond describing the content of the text. It should show analysis, reasoned judgment and justification of views. You are expected to summarise/paraphrase and synthesise information. Sources of information referred to must be correctly cited in APA 7th ed. style.
In terms of writing effectiveness, your response should be clear, unified, coherent and cohesive. Your Introduction paragraph should point the reader to the text being discussed and to the thesis of your essay, and your Conclusion paragraph should contain final thoughts related to your thesis.
Refer to the rubric for the assessment criteria.
