CASE STUDY

In 500-1000 words, address the following question:

Was Aeneas right or wrong to kill Turnus at the end of the Aeneid?

In making your case, use both primary and secondary sources. Primary sources are the texts by Greek and Roman authors (e.g. Iliad, Odyssey, Oresteia, Aeneid) or works of Greek or Roman art. Secondary sources are books and articles by modern scholars (e.g. the pieces by Clausen and Galinsky provided as PDF files below). In addition to the secondary sources, below are some passages and a work of Roman art you may find useful as primary sources. You may wish to refer to other passages from the texts we have read. If you do additional research (optional–not required), be sure to cite any books or articles you use (sample citation format below). Be sure to quote specific words and/or phrases from the primary and secondary sources to support your argument. (If using a work of art as a primary source, discuss specific features of the work.)
