1.1 – 1.3 This is a good improvement to this piece of work. Please avoid writing in the first person (“I…”) and (“We…”) in essay work, reserving this for reflective pieces only. Please add analysis to your work for 1.2. Look at the different barriers you have discussed and ask yourself – how can these barriers affect equality and inclusion? What can be done to stop this from happening? Why can these barriers cause detrimental effects on equality and inclusion? Please add further analysis to your work for 1.3. Look at the legislation you have discussed in this criterion. Why are these legislation and policy initiatives effective in promoting equality, diveristy and inclusion? Are there any weaknesses in these policies? How can the policies in your workplace be regularly reviewed to maintain equality and diversity?

Demonstrate your ability to reference in your work. At level 5, essay work should be fully referenced in the Harvard referencing style. The simplest way to demonstrate your ability to reference your work is to include a few brief and relevant quotes and to reference these. Once you have placed a quotation in your essay, you must then place a citation next to this quote, which should be written in brackets and contain the author’s name, the date the source was published, and if you have referenced with a book – the page number (e.g., “Referencing is mandatory at level 5.” (Enhanced Ltd, 2022, pg 32)). The citation is what connects your reference to the sources in your reference list.

After finishing your essay, please then include a reference list and bibliography at the bottom of the entire document. The reference list should come before the bibliography, and this should contain all the sources that you have taken any direct quotations from. The bibliography will then follow the reference list, the difference between these two is that the bibliography will contain all the sources from your reference list, as well as any additional sources that you have used in research to further your knowledge – whereas the reference list will only contain the sources you have directly referenced with in your actual written work.

You must ensure that the reference list and bibliography follow the exact layout of the Harvard referencing style, which should look as follows:

For a website: Author or web page if author is unavailable. (Year) ‘Title of webpage’. Available at: web address [Accessed on: date].

For a book: Name. (Date) Title. Location of publication: Publication company, page number.

Please refer to the “Made Simple – Referencing” and “Made Simple – Referencing in Action” guides within the learning materials for further advice. Please amend and resubmit. (REFER)
