High-rise occupancy
Instructions
There are three parts to this project. First, you will create a simulation using the SimsUshare software using photographs of a high-rise occupancy from your community or jurisdiction. Once you have selected the building, create a working structure fire that has ventilated from the upper floors of both the A and B sides.
For part two, address the following items.
Using the COAL WAS WEALTH acronym, define the information-gathering process used by your department for this building.
Describe the building construction to include occupancy type, use, hazards, and other considerations that the incident commander would utilize for decision-making in the establishment of strategy and tactics for this incident.
Address fire spread concerns. Communicate an arrival report and an initial progress report.
Detail your department’s response to this structure including all of the provisions in your department’s standard operating procedures as well as resource availability and assignment.
Complete an incident command chart for the given incident based on your own department’s structure.
For part three of this project, you will refer back to the U.S. Fire Administration reading regarding the One Meridian Plaza Fire in Philadelphia, PA. How has your department addressed the conclusions and lessons learned from that fire to ensure the safety of the occupants and firefighters during the response and emergency operations of a high-rise fire in your jurisdiction?
Your paper must be a minimum of three written pages, not counting the title and reference pages or the photographs. You must use at least one source from the CSU Online Library to support your analysis and solutions. All sources used must have proper citations. Your paper, including all references, will be formatted in APA style.
