Applied Final Project: Outline for research paper
Instructions
This serves as an outline for the final paper to be submitted in week 8, and follows from our topic choice in week 4. Basically, you will be following up on your own and the professor’s suggestions on your topic to find the background material for your paper. A suggested format(see below, with example) will be provided in class for the same, you will just fill in the outline sheet and submit in the assignment folders in weeks 6 and 7(suggested time frame). It will look similar to an annotated bibliography.
Lot in Life Assignment Part 2: Outlines
Detailed Instructions:
Review your topic information and the feedback from Dr H(week 4, assignment folder), and write an outline that will help you to plan out and frame your final paper, in terms of doing the background research.
For the outline: suggested format is the following:
Go through the material you found and/or was suggested by Dr H in part 1(topic)
Type in 8-10 of your references, numbered to keep track. It is suggested that for 4-6 of these references you write a few lines for the ones that you find to be most useful(the key points/takeways).
For instance/example:
- 1. Your reference typed here
- A sentence/line or two about what you found in the reference that was important.
- And so on(2, 3, 4 etc), throughout the list.
Formatting:
You can keep it double spaced. It is also suggested that you do a spellcheck/grammar check before submission in weeks 6 and 7. This will save you time now, rather than trying to do it in week 8.
No specific length requirement, though it typically runs to about 1-2 pages, depending on your topic.
Note: We will add this to our final submission that is due in week 8. Thus the due date for both parts 2 and 3 are in week 8. It is suggested to start working on this in weeks 6 and 7, so as to avoid overload at the end of the course, and get my feedback on it. However, since our classmembers have varied schedules and multiple responsibilities, I do not insist on assigning due dates till week 8 for this assignment, so you can work at your own pace, and not have to be concerned about incurring late penalties.
