World Myths (The Theogony)

General Directions Access the “Tools for Analyzing Myths” handouts. Read the directions and select two of the available “Tools.”

Consider an analysis using each tool. Remember that this is an opportunity to practice writing and analyzing before submitting the “Here’s what know” (analysis) paper.

  • Analyze cultural values and principles expressed in a myth.
  • Consider important differences and/or similarities among myths and draws conclusions regarding themes and characteristics.
  • Explore a unique interpretation of a myth based on textual evidence. Make a claim .
  • Consider the struggles a character must overcome in order to mature and succeed in its society (human nature).
  • Explore standards of admission into a group and their collective behavior.
