COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Summary
To maximize our movie viewing and collective learning experience, the class will watch all the MANDATORY movies listed below (IN BLUE) together in class. Additionally, each student will be assigned to a group which will be responsible for presenting oral reports based on an alternative class readings and alternative Films selection.

Each student in each group (1-5) will deliver over the course of the semester two 3-minute maximum oral report complete with Powerpoint on their selected reading choice and alternative film week of making their class presentation, these student will be required to pass in an 8-page minimum paper (alternative history or analytical paper) on some aspect of the class theme, ideally integrating literary, film, primary and secondary source evidence into their stories or arguments.

Students should not attempt to recount the entire plot or story line of the film in detail, but to focus instead on how particular scenes, dialogue, characters, or thematic concern relate to the topics from the readings and to primary and secondary source materials on the same subject.
