Critical Thinking and Argument
Introductory Paragraph: Must include a hook, definition of key concept(s), describe controversy, preview
Thesis Statement: Must be one-sentence, definitive/declarative language, rational/logical, and include 3 distinct factors.
Body Paragraphs: Must include topic sentence/assertion with transition strategy, concession, rebuttal. Rebuttal must expose a logical flaw/fallacy. Each paragraph must include minimum of 2 sources cited in MLA format.
Conclusion: Must include appropriate “closing language”, re-statement of thesis, tell the reader why they should care, end with a hook. Must be 1 page.
Syntax/Grammar/Diction: Must be free from errors in these categories.
Format: Double spaced, 1” margins, MS Word document, header on the first page only.
Work cited page: Minimum of 6 sources, must be MLA format. Open source.
