Poor planning in the workplace

Purpose: Identify one story in the news that demonstrate poor planning in the workplace.

Instructions: Identify one story in the news that a company lost money because of poor planning. Many excellent examples come from the marketing literature on a failed product launch. The article should be within the last 30 days. You can use news outlets or publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Fast Company, or Harvard Business Review. The assignment will be formatted with a cover page, reference page, and utilizing APA. There should be three paragraphs that address the questions in the assignment below. Please identify one story in the news that pertains to poor planning in the workplace.

Then address the following:

Paragraph 1: Summarize the news story or article in less than 100 words.

Paragraph 2: Write up what went wrong/ and how it could have been avoided using the planning/control cycle as you studied in the course. (You will need to tie what you learned in the class to demonstrate you understand the learning for the week). Paragraph 3: Tell me how you will use the planning/controlling process to ensure you are successful in your field of study now or in the future.

The assignment will be formatted with a cover page and reference page. Students should use APA as the formatting structure for the assignment.
