Science Black History Project Newsletter/Brochure (Home assignment)
You have been assigned a famous Black scientist.
Your assignment is to write a ONE PAGE newsletter or brochure about the invention, discovery or work that made them famous. Your project must include ALL of the following:
- Brief background information on your scientist (I.e., education, employer, how they got started in their field and on their work)
- DETAILS on what made them famous and the impact of their work on society
- Must be ONE PAGE long
- Written like a news report, as if you were there when the discovery/intention/work happened
- 0.5 inch margins all the way around, with 10 or 11 point size font for text and appropriate sized headings
- Single-spaced with proper paragraph indentions
- By-line at top of the page with month and your name as editor
- Decorative masthead (heading) using Word art and/or graphics at top of the page
- Footer including your full name and class period
- At least two pictures (can be of your scientist and/or their work)
- All pictures must have a caption underneath them explaining what the picture is and where the picture came from and when it was taken
- Design pages in an appropriate format and do not make them gaudy or crowded. Likewise, be careful not to have too much blank space
- Appropriate use of language (grammar, spelling, etc.). Be sure to proofread your project before turning it in
- Try to make this newsletter look professional. This is a project that you should be proud of, so work hard and do a good job
Brochures ONLY:
- Information must be in columns
- There must be information/pictures on all three sections
- Must be able to be folded without creasing any of the text/pictures
- Must include title and by-line on the front cover
- Must include your full name and class period on the back cover
