Paper Topic: 1. Food Security – Famines
My paper deals with the food security-taking place across the globe, my goal is to find out how the human interest in agriculture has been expanding where it shapes a huge part of the 21st century evolvement. The importance of food security is a result of a continuous increase in the population, which requires a surge in food production to fill in the gaps of population versus production. These apertures should be occupied through agricultural activities and exporting food from surrounding regions.
Securing national food security and developing a strategy to ensure famine is put to an end and nutrition is spread through a complete organization that focuses on reducing food waste. The search of international cooperation’s that have similar interests in recycling and treating waste in addition to discovering various food banks. The goal is to find out how food security is correlated with the economic and political relations and what is related to developmental decisions with the escalation of the national famine pandemic.
The UAE is one of the countries trying to develop their agricultural needs in terms of exporting and importing food compared to the whole world through modern agriculture and investment, locating the best lands for agronomic purposes across the globe to ensure self sufficiency is obtained. In 2018 the UAE launched the national food security strategy aiming to develop a national food security system with a target strategy to ensure food security. This strategy will define the components of the national food commodity based on three main components, which are:
- Signifying the volume of domestic consumption
- The ability to produce and manufacture
- Nutritional needs
The goal from this strategy is to rank the UAE as one the best in the world food security index by 2051.
