Please answer the following questions one might need to be done in Excel)
a) [2 marks] Construct an approximate probability distribution for the age of ice on the Arctic Circle in 1984 and 2016, using the graphic at the top of https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/89038/arctic-sea-ice-is-losing-its-bulwark.
The variable on the vertical axis of your probability distribution is the share of the Arctic Circle for each age of the ice, which tells you the chance a randomly chosen piece of ice has a particular age. In your probability distribution graph, you can label the age ranges as: 0.5 years, 1.5 years, 2.5 years, 3.5 years, and 4.5 years (the last one being for ice age ≥ 4). (Hint: It is approximate because you have to guess areas)
b) [1 mark] According to your probability distribution function, what is the expected value of the age of ice in 1984 and 2016?
