RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Developing a research proposal in the environmental sciences.
No word limit, but must be no more than 3 pages in Arial size 11, margins of no less than 2 cm.
Write a hypothetical research proposal (reintroducing wolves to Scotland) for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the major government funding body for the environmental sciences in the UK (https://nerc.ukri.org/). The remit of NERC is wide and they fund projects of vary sizes and scales across a wide range of disciplines in the Environmental Sciences.
You will be applying for a general grant, so you get to decide on the area of interest for your project and its scale and scope. Your proposal can cover any topic in the environmental sciences (reintroducing wolves to Scotland), but your suggestions on how this is achieved must be physically possible.
The research proposal must contain the following:
1) Project title
2) Aims and objectives
3) Introduction and rationale
4) Hypothesis
5) Experimental design and methodology
6) Anticipated outcomes and impact
No word limit, instead a page limit with restrictions on font and margins; this is to reflect the approach used by real research councils (you must conform to these requirements).
