One key aim of this course is to understand how humans develop. With the
increased use of social media, technology, and the presence of media in society, students
will be asked how media affects child or adolescent development. Specifically, students will assess how the
concepts of the course connect to an aspect of child or adolescent development (e.g. cognitive, physical, emotional).
The paper is meant to be an exercise in analyzing concepts of development and create connections to various
aspects of child or adolescent development. This can include evaluating programs/policy and its effectiveness,
identifying limitations of current research, and describing their own ideas/perspective regarding media influence on
child or adolescent development. Therefore, papers (Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double-spaced, and 1-inch
margins) are required to be a minimum of 5 pages in length (however, more content is highly encouraged).
Inclusion of research citations to support prepositions are also required.
