Case study 1
Sport: Football
Group size, age: 10 x 5-6 year olds
Level: Beginner, participatory. Play in SFA 4v4 matches
Training and competition: 1 hour of training and 1-hour’ matches’ per week
Pertinent points: The group are all male and are very well behaved and enthusiastic about football. Like all children this age, they have some issues with attention at times. They have been part of the team for 1 – 1.5 years on average. There is a great deal of differentiation in the group; with Celtic FC already scouts some players, some players are very new to football and low skill levels.
