PSYC 2010 – Developmental Psychology
Paper 1
For this paper, you will write a 4-5 page guide to new parents. Discuss the biological, cognitive, and social/emotional development occurring in the first few months of life. Explain the theoretical understandings and offer advice for new parents. Obviously you will not be expected to discuss everything that is going on in the infancy stage, so focus on what you deem to be important knowledge for new parents, specifically.
You should cite and summarize at least three peer-reviewed journal articles in your paper (above and beyond textbook and lecture material). Make sure to discuss how the authors came to their conclusions and how their findings support your advice.
Page formatting and citations must adhere to APA 7 style guidelines. Points will be taken off for errors. Points will also be taken off for repeated and/or glaring grammatical / spelling errors.
There is a sample APA 7 paper (make sure to look at the student paper) on this website that you may use to ensure you have all of the elements of APA 7: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/apa_sample_paper.html
Your paper should be 4-5 pages. The abstract, title page and references do not count in the 4-5 pages.
You should also take the time to review the rubric for this paper before you submit your paper.
