Instructions:
1. Select one country that you want to investigate for your ISU.
2. You have been promoted in your job, and you are now the new Minister of Tourism
for your country. You are responsible for becoming a travel & tourism expert for your
country.
Plan to consult a variety of sources for your topic. Examples include:
● Newspapers
● News magazines
● Internet sites
● Television shows
● Personal interviews
● Non-fiction books
Collect a variety of information (e.g., articles, editorials, political cartoons, graphics,
images, statistics etc.) during your research.
3. Expectations – Portfolio:

● Tourism and the Environment in Your Country

APA, whichever you prefer)
Portfolio Item #1: Understanding Travel and Tourism in Your Country
1. Using the two graphic organizers, on the following pages, create a preliminary
itinerary plan for the report. Make sure you fill out every single box in these two
organizers (Appendix A & B).
2. Write a rationale explaining why people should visit your country (250-350 words).
3. Include maps of your region (political, transportation routes, cultural and physical
attractions maps)
4. Include images of attractions and key historical/cultural/environmental sites.

1. List and describe the economic benefits of tourism in your region. You should
include souvenirs, attractions, accommodations, transportation, and jobs.
2. Describe any economic disparities that exist because of the impact of tourism
(250-350 words).

3. Explain why you think it is important to respect the cultural differences and
religious differences in your region (125-175 words).

Portfolio Item #4: Tourism and the Natural Environment in Your Country
1. List any sensitive natural/environmental areas in your region and add these to your
maps.
2. Describe how travellers can reduce their damage to these sensitive areas (250-350
words).

Portfolio Item #5: Tourism and the Socio-Economics in Your Country
1. List and describe jobs and careers that are created due to tourism in your country.

2. Make a prediction about what the future travel and tourism industry might look like

COVID19 pandemic concludes?
3. Include in your report a safety assessment for tourists in your region (125-175
