Propose a research study of a topic of interest related to the brain or mind. In order to do so, investigate recent developments in an area that interests you by reading 3 related news media articles or articles from scientific journals. Since we want you to focus on topics of current interest, the articles you use cannot have been published before 2005.
2. While reading the articles keep in mind new research possibilities and unanswered questions. Utilize these ideas to propose a research study, and to write a short summary of your proposal.
What to include:
Paragraph 1: The research question your study aims to address.
Paragraph 2: Aspects of the design of your study, including (1) the methods you propose using to conduct your study (e.g., epidemiological survey, EEG, fMRI, nerve-cell stimulation, pharmacology, a blender, etc.) and (2) the population you will be conducting this study upon (i.e., mice, elephants, squid, adult human men and/or women, infants, elderly, etc.)
Paragraph 3: A concluding paragraph describing how your study question evolved out of the 3 articles you read and describing why you think this question is meaningful or interesting and what you hope to get from the results on both a personal and societal level.
