Determine the impact of a change in business structure on audit risk, inventory transactions, and balances using a given sampling approach

What are the reasons/factors for improvements or fall in revenue etc?

You have made a good attempt, but you should refer to assignment guidance and tasks again to see whether you are including all these sections in your analysis.

Morrison is not multinational as it has mainly its stores in the UK. You have made a good start of the introduction. Regarding the competitor, Sainsbury is a much stronger supermarket in the UK Asda would have been a more close competitor to show trends, however I am more interested in the analysis of the chosen company ‘ Morrisons’

You should refer to the information from the latest annual report of Morrisons 2019/20. (some of your analysis show comparisons of 2017. Your main analysis should concentrate on Morrisons comparing the performance of the current year and last year.

Sainsburys analysis are not needed in detail. I do not expect you to do a like for like comparison of Morrisons plc’s results and one of its competitors Sainsburys. Just a general comparison of trends between Morrisons and its competitors (Sainsbury’s) will be sufficient.

Also, you tend to show whether there is an increase/decrease/ upward trends etc and have not tried consistently to analyse why? What are the reasons/factors for improvements or fall in revenue etc?

Investors’ analysis should include analysis of market share price as explained in the lecture 2. This part worth 30%??? Earning per share it is an important ratio to use for analysis.

No evidence of sustainability analysis or cash flow.

Ratios/calculations should not be included in the main body of the report, there are no marks for ratio calculation but just the interpretation.

There is no need to include the statements in the main body of the report. You may include graphs or charts if you want, but only if adds value to the analysis and include the references at the end.

Do not use ‘I’ in a report. It should be written in the third person as you already done in other sections.

More structure is needed.

Discuss the steps taken by the accountancy profession to mitigate such challenge

It is an indisputable fact that ‘Independence’ is the most important matter affecting the credibility of auditors. Discuss, giving examples, matters other than independence which might be relevant in relation to the credibility of the auditor and steps that the accounting profession has taken or might take in relation to them. (This is the brief)

Below is the structure of how to write it.

You should start with a brief statement or introduction on auditor’s independence
1. Mention and discuss factor 1
• Give examples
• Also discuss the steps taken by the accountancy profession to mitigate such challenge
2. Mention and discuss factor 2
• Give examples
• Also discuss the steps taken by the accountancy profession to mitigate such challenge(Expected to support these arguments with their own research and provide in-text citations)

Identify five (5) strengths in Ergonomics Furniture’s general controls that will impact on the reliability of the IT information that is generated

Ergonomics Furniture Pty Ltd (Ergonomics Furniture) is an Ergonomics Furniture manufacturer located in Sydney and has just installed the company’s first computer system.

In preparing for your current audit, you have identified the following information:

  • The system is a local area network (LAN).
  • The file server and two PCs are located at Head Office in Sydney, with two other PCs located in Melbourne.
  • Selma Taylor, the CEO, who is located at Head Office and three clerical staff, Scot Davis, who is located at Head Office and Andy Johnson and Yang Chan, who are located in Sydney, are the only ones having logical access privileges to the computer. Their access privileges are as follows:
  • Selma: access to all software and all files
  • Scot: access to inventory
  • Andy: access to receipts, sales and debtors.
  • Yang: access to payroll, payments and payables
  • All software was purchased off-the-shelf with the exception of the inventory program. Due to the specialised nature of Ergonomics Furniture’s inventory, an independent IT contractor was engaged to design, develop, test and install their program.
  • The IT contractor fully documented the workings of the inventory system, however, neither Scot nor Selma understand the documentation.
  • The computer hardware at both locations is kept in locked offices.
  • Selma backs up all data kept on the file server on a daily basis and places a copy in a local secure storage facility.
  • Scot, Andy and Yang print summary reports of inventory; sales, cash receipts and debtors; and cash payments, payables and payroll, respectively, and reconcile these on a weekly basis. Any apparent errors or problems are referred to Selma for resolution.

REQUIRED

  • Identify five (5) strengths in Ergonomics Furniture’s general controls that will impact on the reliability of the IT information that is generated.
  • Outline how each of these strengths affect the audit overall.

how much formal training or experience is required to hold this position

Position: Governmental Accountant

This paper must be written in APA format. The thing that is unique about this paper is that you will be required to add an opinion of the accounting profession in your conclusion. Each paper should include the use of 4 sources; one of those sources needs to be an interview with a professional in the concentration of accounting that you choose.

  1. The accounting profession lives by the 3 E’s, (education, exam, and experience), research what type of education and how much of education is required to hold that position, on-the-job experience (how much formal training or experience is required to hold this position), and professional license(s) it would take to work in your chosen concentration (what exam(s) you have to pass to hold that position). Specifically relate your search to Idaho, USA as much as possible, you can use online resources.
  2. Research the national average salary for this position. Do not limit yourself to entry level salaries get a range from entry level through the management/partner level of your chosen profession. No tables, just words.
  3. Interview a professional that holds this position  Compare and contrast what your interview subject said about education, exams, and experience.

In the conclusion, make sure add opinion – “I”, repeat thesis and answer to the thesis.

My thesis should be something about – governmental accounting is a good start after I graduate college, or it has a better work-life balance and great benefits, or you can choose your own.

Also, I want to put some accent on is not exactly what you know but who you know that will help you to find a good job (it can be part of the thesis maybe?).

Thank you!!!

Provide a brief assessment (2-3 paragraphs) of Jet Blue’s corporate governance leadership

JetBlue, one of the largest airlines in the U.S., has hired you as a consultant to perform an internal control risk assessment.
To begin, you should research JetBlue’s background and locate JetBlue’s 2019 10-K. Review the 10-K index and become familiar with the sections of JetBlue’s 10-K. You may update your analysis with events that have occurred during 2020.

Directions:

Identify the overall corporate objectives of JetBlue and some of the strategies implemented to
achieve those objectives.
Identify some of the strategic risks that potentially could impede Jet Blue from achieving
its objectives.
As part of their “entity level” controls Jet Blue strives for effective executive leadership and strong
corporate governance, including the Board of Directors and its committees.
A. Describe an entity- level control and provide a few examples.
B. Describe the structure and titles of the executive leadership team and the composition of the
Board of Directors (include their background and the committees on which they serve within
the Board of Directors).
C. Provide a brief assessment (2-3 paragraphs) of Jet Blue’s corporate governance leadership
structure. Make 1-2 recommendations you could provide for the composition of the executive
leadership team of the Board of Directors.
Risk assessment also occurs at the financial statement level. Identify what you consider to be some
of the critical (significant) accounting policy areas for JetBlue (these are included in the Management
Discussion and Analysis section of the 10-K).
Note a few of the significant estimates and judgments that management must make in applying appropriate accounting standards (you do not need to reference the specific technical standards in your
response).

Critically analyze the above statement, considering international differences in accounting, the comparability of international accounting, and the arguments for and against harmonization.
