Will it make sense to a reader who does not know this organisation? Does the writing flow and are the thoughts expressed clearly? Is grammar correct and is punctuation accurate and consistent?

Build a profissional business report

4.1 Citations
Citations in-text should be included using Harvard referencing.

4.2 Layout and Numbering System (Lab 9)
Use a consistent style and font size for headings and numbering system.

The report must be:
presented in Ariel or Calibri font and size 12 with 1.25 spacing (i.e. not double spaced)

paginated at the foot of the page.

presented in numbered sections, wherever appropriate (use the section number as given to you in Section 2.0 of this note).

This is a report for a potential employer, it needs to be professional and “business ready”. Check to see that professionalism is evidenced by how the final report looks in hard copy and on the screen.

4.3 Writing Style:
Try to use simple plain English. All sections of the report should be written in the 3rd person.

Avoid:
o over-long, complex sentences

o jargon

o informal phrases or words

o over-repetition of same word or phrase

Provide abbreviations only if it is necessary.
The presentation of the report will be assessed. Students should focus on the quality and professionalism of the report evidenced by the:

o overall appearance of report

o cover, structure, layout, and supplementary pages

o use of tables and figures. You should make sure that these are labelled correctly with heading/titles and source of information in the correct positions.

o use of colour and graphics

o spelling and grammar

4.4 Quality of content

Make sure your premises are robust and support your conclusions. Use the rules of an argument to make your report evidence based.

4.5 Proof reading:
This does not mean just checking the final version for spelling mistakes and it is often difficult to do completely on your own. At regular intervals in the development of the report, please consider the following questions:

Will it make sense to a reader who does not know this organisation?

Does the writing flow and are the thoughts expressed clearly?

Is grammar correct and is punctuation accurate and consistent?

Word Count – 3000

Your annual Performance Development Review is approaching. You are keen to reflect on how working in this team compares to what you have learnt on your MBA course and your understanding of how companies perform in the mobile phone industry. You are required to prepare a report that covers research into one or two events from your simulation team looking at group dynamics, how decisions were made, leadership analysis, and implications for your individual professional development.

This should cover:

  • Report summary
  • Introduction and Identified events 10%
  • Application of theory and practice to identified events 15%
    • Use theory to make sense of the two events – what happened, how, why
    • Brief review of applied theories / concepts/ industry practices – how relevant and valid are they to your events
  • Discussion and recommendations             10%
    • Review and explain your individual professional development
    • Recommendations to improve your practice and areas for you to research to improve your development
  • Structure and writing (Grammar, argument, report summary) 5%
  • Appendix (incl. individual reflection logs for each year in the simulation) 10%

An example of an identified event (not to be used in your assessment):

  • Your team is virtual and has had mixed performance throughout the simulation activity. It feels like it has been a very iterative process in getting people and building the team. Communication has been hard with individuals having different levels of access to technology (i.e. intermittent internet, using mobile phones instead of computers), and some members have engaged little with other team members. This has meant redistributing work and recognising what each member is likely to complete.

What is the importance of effective time management to successful study? Explain your answers and reasoning.

Effective time management

Students will submit 1000-words on the case study topic as shown below: Case Study Topic: The effective management of time is crucial for students success.

What is the importance of effective time management to successful study? Explain your answers and reasoning. You must discuss and justify your argument/position with regards to the above question.

The report is to be written individually, you will use your personal research and feedback from tutors to improve your assessment. The text must be organised in a report format and all sources used in your report must be correctly cited and referenced using Harvard Referencing conventions, a minimum of 4 sources are required.

Define and describe the ingredients, explain how the ingredients should be combined or manipulated for optimal effect, and richly justify the expected outcome.

Formulate a Strategy for Data Collection

Qualitative Research Procedures and Participant Selection

On the research methodology and design, you must determine the appropriate data collection methods to use. For example, if you are conducting a phenomenological study, you are likely to visit with participants individually for a prolonged period of time, or perhaps multiple times as well. You will collect narrative and observational data, along with other evidence to ensure immersion in each participant’s world. Another example would be an ethnographic study of an indigenous group or tribe; in this example, you might have to become embedded with the group, participate in group activities or rituals, and make clear observations of events and interactions.

In Week 1, you developed a pair of research questions for which you now must collect data to generate answers. This week’s resources contain explanations on how this could be accomplished. Research is designed to answer questions related to a real-world problem or an issue of theoretical relevance. The goal is to generate answers to research questions that are convincing and demonstrate the effective use of the scientific method by the researcher. Regardless of the method or design, all research should be highly structured, highly modulated, precise, and focused. Your research design is the plan that you will use to carry out your investigation: how will you select participants, what interventions will you choose to make, what are you measuring, and how will you approach questions? Fundamentally, your research design limits the plausible interpretations of the outcome of the events.

Data collection conversations, such as interviews and focus group discussions, should be recorded for optimal capturing and transcription of the data. Voice recording applications such as internet meeting platform recorders, cell phone recorders, thumb drive recorders, or even cassette recorders can be used to record the data collection conversations. You will need to obtain the participants’ authorization in writing to record the data collection conversations. This could be a part of the informed consent process.

In your dissertation, you will have to write succinctly and clearly to demonstrate your data collection plan. Some sage advice—write this part of your research plan like a recipe:

(a) define and describe the ingredients,

(b) explain how the ingredients should be combined or manipulated for optimal effect, and

(c) richly justify the expected outcome.

Drawing on IHRM theory and contemporary literature examined in this course outline theimpact the Industrial or Employment Relations practices may have on the way Ceutical conducts its HR activities/functions/structure. Critically discuss the merits of a ‘Global Code of HRM Conduct’and confirm whether Ceutical would be well advised to implement a Global Code of Conduct approach.

International Human Resource Management challenges

Task Overview:  Drawing on IHRM concepts and theory examined in this course, this assessment requires students to evaluate contemporary IHRM challenges global HR executives face in managing human capital in both domestic and globalised contexts

Word Limit: 2,000 words (do not go over this limit)

In some countries trade unions and employment relations laws can either constrain or benefit HR practices in overseas offices. For instance, Dowling et al (2017) highlight a major challenge for MNEs in respect to the reaction of Home Country consumers to allegations of unfair employment practices, poor consumer practices and financial breaches etc even if these generate little or no reaction from consumers living in the Host Country.

The Global HR Director of Ceutical has asked you to carry out further research and provide a 2,000 word report discussing the Industrial or Employment Relations characteristics (e.g. employers, trade unions, employment laws) of your chosen country and critically discussing the merits of introducing a Global Code of HRM Conduct.

Instructions

  1. Select one country that was used for Assessment 2(A) – e.g. Vietnam, Singapore or  Turkey
  2. Carry out further research to discuss the key Industrial or Employment Relations characteristics (employers, unions, and the role of the government including relavant labour laws)for the country that you have chosen to review.
  3. Drawing on IHRM theory and contemporary literature examined in this course outline theimpact the Industrial or Employment Relations practices may have on the way Ceutical conducts its HR activities/functions/structure.
  4. Critically discuss the merits of a ‘Global Code of HRM Conductand confirm whether Ceutical would be well advised to implement a Global Code of Conduct approach.

Assessment Instructions

Task: Drawing on your experiences during the simulation, you will produce a 1500-word critical essay on to the approach to decision making operating in the team and your contribution to it.

Three main levels of reflection should cover the following area:

  1. Diagnosis of team strategic decision-making effectiveness during the simulation using an appropriate theoretical framework from the module. Within this you should consider the impact of team dynamics, leadership and fit with the context of the simulation. Use ONE Critical decsion to illustrate the elements of your analysis – this should contain only a very brief description of the selected critical decision and the choice made with the focus being on the decision process. You will be expected to draw on the material from the Study Unit on strategic decision-making as an analysis tool.

  1. On the basis of your analysis you should reflect on how your personal preferences fitted this approach and may have impacted on the group work process, and how you might adopt a different approach in the future (either to better perform in a similar situation or need to flex to be effective In a different context).
