In which tasks do you need to extend more grace to yourself, while reminding yourself learning is a process? Where do you need to enlist the help of others to maintain a Growth Mindset? Where (specifically) have you seen growth in your life over the last 5 weeks?

Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset

Part 1 – Watch this Ted Talk by Carol Dweck – The Power of Believing That You Can Improve (10:13)
This video explains the fundamental differences between these two mindsets and their impact upon children. While you watch, pay particular attention to the outcomes of these two mindsets and when the video concludes, think about how these two mindsets play out in your life at home, at work, and at school. This might be a perfect time to apply new note-taking strategies!

Part 2 – Read Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset (Links to an external site.)
Read more specifics about the Growth Mindset and how to cultivate your own Growth Mindset. This might be a perfect time to apply new reading strategies!

Part 3 – Review The Fixed vs. Growth Mindset Infographic
Think about which tasks in your life are easiest to approach with a Growth Mindset and which get stuck in the Fixed Mindset. In which tasks do you need to extend more grace to yourself, while reminding yourself learning is a process? Where do you need to enlist the help of others to maintain a Growth Mindset? Where (specifically) have you seen growth in your life over the last 5 weeks? When did you want to give up, but kept going instead? How do you celebrate growth (the process) and accomplishment (the product) in your life? In your educational journey?

Part 4 – After watching, reading, thinking, and reflecting about these things, construct your response.
Based upon what you have heard, read, and seen, construct a 2-page paper with the following sections:

Explain the different methods you used, and discuss why you made various assumptions. For each line item, you can put in short explanations directly in the spreadsheet.

Finance

“Balance Sheet Forecast and Income Statement” on the Ford Motor Company.

See the example paper and workbook for methods to forecast the financial statements. However, adjust what you do to what matches your company’s situation. You are also encouraged to use your own methods.

Explain the different methods you used, and discuss why you made various assumptions. For each line item, you can put in short explanations directly in the spreadsheet.

You do not have to discuss each line item in the Word document laboriously. However, discuss your sales forecast, the plugin the balance sheet, and anything else that was a challenge or requires a more detailed explanation. (See the example paper.)

How are Web-based and e-mail versions of these documents different from hard-copy versions? Is a scannable resume the same as a Web-based ver?

Cover letters and Resumes

Like you, many students aren’t sure what recruiters look for in cover letters and resumes. Additionally, how are Web-based and e-mail versions of these documents different from hard-copy versions? Is a scannable resume the same as a Web-based ver?

Clearly explain our decision to match each company with its relevant data contained in document 1.

Case Workshop Project

DOCUMENT 1: CASE DOCUMENT

In this document, we need to create a list of the top 15 TATA Group’s companies (https://indiancompanies.in/companies-owned-by-tata-group/) along with their relevant industries or sectors, headquarters, and value proposition. After this step, on another document, we need to make a table (excel sheet) of the balance sheet percentages of each of those companies, which have to be identified by a letter of the alphabet and not their names. For the balance sheet components, we can use the same ones used in our reference document. Use the first two pages of the attached document as a reference.

DOCUMENT 2: TEACHING NOTE

In this document, we need to make a list of the comprehensive steps that we will use to match each company with its corresponding balance sheet data. We need to clearly explain our decision to match each company with its relevant data contained in document 1. This explanation needs to represent a detailed analysis of the ratios that we use in our evaluation and their importance based on multiple factors such as historical or technical data regularly observed in a particular industry or sector and/or the pertinence of a given ratio, asset, liability, or equity for a company in that particular market and so on.

Create a box-plot for the “Annual Sales” variable. Does it look symmetric? Would you prefer the IQR instead of the standard deviation to describe this variable’s dispersion? Why?

Statistics Analysis

conduct the following descriptive statistics analyses with Microsoft® Excel®. Answer the questions below in your Microsoft® Excel® sheet or in a separate Microsoft® Word document:

Insert a new column in the database that corresponds to “Annual Sales.” Annual Sales is the result of multiplying a restaurant’s “SqFt.” by “Sales/SqFt.”

Calculate the mean, standard deviation, skew, 5-number summary, and interquartile range (IQR) for each of the variables.

Create a box-plot for the “Annual Sales” variable. Does it look symmetric? Would you prefer the IQR instead of the standard deviation to describe this variable’s dispersion? Why?

Create a histogram for the “Sales/SqFt” variable. Is the distribution symmetric? If not, what is the skew? Are there any outliers? If so, which one(s)? What is the “SqFt” area of the outlier(s)? Is the outlier(s) smaller or larger than the average restaurant in the database? What can you conclude from this observation?

What measure of central tendency is more appropriate to describe “Sales/SqFt”? Why?

Find a quote on leadership or on active listening. Write a blog post on why it holds meaning for you, how to apply it in a business setting.

3 Qualities of Leadership and What it Means

We call someone a leader not because they are in charge but because they have the courage to go first. To risk first. To trust first. First into the unknown. – Simon Sinek

Discuss the responsibilities that management has to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to work and earn a living. What training programs should be in place? What resources should be available for all employees including managers?

Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation.

This EO focuses on ensuring that employers do not discriminate on the basis of gender or sexual orientation. Research this EO and from an employers’ perspective, discuss the responsibilities that management has to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to work and earn a living. What training programs should be in place? What resources should be available for all employees including managers? What role does HR play? Think about discrimination laws and why they were created.
