In your opinion, what did Coca-Cola do right over the years? If you were Coca-Cola’s Chief Marketing Officer, what would you consider as options for the next strategic brand move?

 7-1 Discussion: Brand Growth

Coca-Cola has shown enormous capacity to bend to the expectations of every culture with which it has dealt, and has done so for over 100 years. Beginning in 1886 as a medicinal cure for headaches, the brand became a popular beverage, growing through war times, through peace and love generations, even the high-tech generation. Despite sharp declines in carbonated soft drinks, Coca-Cola remains the premier beverage brand. Go online to Coca-Cola’s website where you will find a “history” tab. Identify what you believe to be key points in the timeline for the growth of the brand, and why you think those were important. The ads and commercials also tell a fascinating story of the brand’s success. In your opinion, what did Coca-Cola do right over the years? If you were Coca-Cola’s Chief Marketing Officer, what would you consider as options for the next strategic brand move?

Discuss whether the results of your analysis of the data provide evidence that the time spent by visitors to the Triple T website differs by background color, font, or combination of background color and font. What is your recommendation?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, watch the Week 4 Introduction video, and read Chapter 13 in the MindTap ebook by clicking on the Getting Ready link for each perspective chapter.

Step 1: Read:

Step 2: Do:

In a managerial report,

  • Use descriptive statistics to summarize the data from Triple T’s study. Based on descriptive statistics, what are your preliminary conclusions about whether the time spent by visitors to the Triple T website differs by background color or font? What are yourpreliminary conclusions about whether time spent by visitors to the Triple T website differs by different combinations of background color and font?
  • Explain whether Triple T has used an observational study or a controlled experiment.
  • Use the data from Triple T’s study to test the hypothesis that the time spent by visitors to the Triple T website is equal for the three background colors. Include both factors and their interaction in the ANOVA model, and use a=.05.
  • Use the data from Triple T’s study to test the hypothesis that the time spent by visitors to the Triple T website is equal for the three fonts. Include both factors and their interaction in the ANOVA model, and use a=.05.
  • Use the data from Triple T’s study to test the hypothesis that time spent by visitors to the Triple T website is equal for the nine combinations of background color and font. Include both factors and their interaction in the ANOVA model, and use a=.05.
  • Discuss whether the results of your analysis of the data provide evidence that the time spent by visitors to the Triple T website differs by background color, font, or combination of background color and font. What is your recommendation?

Step 3: Discuss:

  • What recommendations does your ANOVA results support? Use findings from your managerial report to support your recommendations. Be sure to include why you support certain decisions over others. What surprising findings did you come up with during your analysis?

What does your analysis suggest happens to countries that have not had as significant an increase in savings? What would your analysis suggest happens to those countries real exchange rate?

World Saving Rate

  • Savings (and consumption) play a central role in macroeconomic analysis. In this question, we will discuss a number of aspects connected to changes in savings.

Consider the following graph that describes the evolution of the World Saving Rate. see attached graph

  • What does the Solow (neoclassical) growth model say about the evolution of the steady state capital per worker ratio.
  • What does this evolution suggest happened to world real interest rates? And what does it say about the world real wage?
  • Notice that part of the increase in savings is explained by the growing importance of China and India in global GDP (though by no means the only factor). What does the graph suggest happened to the global distribution of income?
  • Simultaneously with the higher savings rate, the world has also had slowing growth. This is in part due to lower population growth rates (n) but also because of slower productivity growth (g). What does slower productivity growth suggest should happen to investment for a given real interest rate?
  • Now divide the world in two blocks. What does your analysis suggest happens to countries that have not had as significant an increase in savings?
  • What would your analysis suggest happens to those countries real exchange rate?

How could each orientation of qualitative research, namely, phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory, and case studies be used here? What qualitative research tool(s) would you recommend be used and why?

Bush fires

In February 2009, bush fires raced across the Australian state of Victoria, claiming lives and property. While rebuilding will take years, at some point after a disaster, it is time to get back to business. Suppose you are approached by the owners of several full-service wine stores in Victoria. They are uncertain about whether they should simply maintain the same positioning they had previous to the bush fires, and they would like a report within 60 days.

  • How could each orientation of qualitative research, namely, phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory, and case studies be used here?
  • What qualitative research tool(s) would you recommend be used and why?
  • What are the ethical issues that you should be sensitive to in this process?

Digital Marketing Plan

Develop an 8 10-page digital marketing strategy for a new pet food product (or new product or line extension at your employer or future employer.)

Introduction
Digital marketing and social media have completely changed the face of marketing. It is not that the older tools and models no longer work (they do!) but, rather, that these tools and models need to be applied in different ways.

Digital marketing activities are performed while customers are connected to networks through various mobile devices. Among the many things that make digital marketing unique is the trigger of communication. Customers may target the business (pull communication) or the business may target the digital consumer (push communication). Digital marketing can take place through a variety of modalities including email, text, apps, and any other means by which a customer can communicate on a mobile device. Social media takes the marketer into the world of “views,” “clicks,” and “likes” as a means of ascertaining product appeal to the potential market. Digital marketing has changed the landscape of marketing activities.

When measuring the results of social media and digital marketing, we have to measure outcomes to determine the effectiveness of a general approach or campaign. If we cannot determine effectiveness, how can we possibly know if this is something we want to do again or not? In this assessment, you will gain insight on some approaches to measuring social media and digital marketing effectiveness. Unlike other areas of business operations (for example, finance), the measurements here are still evolving. However, you need to have at least a foundation for thinking about this very important aspect of marketing.

Introduction
This portfolio work project, a digital marketing plan with a social media strategy, will help you demonstrate competency in digital marketing planning and measurement.
