There is an abundance of information regarding characteristics of decision making and how a leader needs to possess strong decision-making skills. The following are two beliefs (e.g., research, anecdotal) about decision making: (a) decision making is a skill developed through practice that the more you perfectly rehearse it, the better you become at it; and (b) decision making reflects your basic intellectual aptitude, meaning the better your cognitive experiences, the better your decision making.
Those who feel it is an acquired skill have the ability to set higher expectations and good problem-solving strategies for themselves. On the other hand, those who thought it was either you have it or not philosophy, lost confidence in themselves and had many challenges when making decisions.

Scene Description:

Fletcher Reede is a fast-talking attorney—and a habitual liar. He has missed the concept of identity management to justify dishonesty in his personal and business affairs. Reede’s 5-year-old son wishes that his father cannot tell a lie for just one day, and miraculously the wish comes true. In this scene, Reede’s boss calls him into the boardroom meeting to speak to the director of the partnership committee. Because of his son’s wish, Reede begins saying whatever comes to mind. His unedited thoughts and feelings lead to rude and insulting comments about everyone in the room. After a few moments of uncertainty and silence, the head of the partnership committee breaks out in laughter, thinking it is a joke, and encourages Reede to continue. The director says, “He loves a good roast!” (Warning: this scene contains some coarse language.)

Locate an article in the CSU Online Library that focuses on managing conflict in an organization through communication. The article must be clearly related to the course content and have the potential to contribute significant analysis and substantial engagement with the course topic.
For this assignment, you will need to accurately identify the article’s premise, significant points in support of the premise, and the significance of those points to the course and/or the field. You need to present an insightful and thorough analysis of the article with strong arguments and evidence. Your interpretation will need to be both reasonable and compelling. You will need to apply course concepts in your analysis.
As you write the review, be certain to analyze the type of conflict discussed in the article. The first third of the paper should place the organization’s strategic plan within its environmental context, summarize and highlight key strategic choices represented in the plan, and present a rationale for the topic further researched. The latter two-thirds of the paper should synthesize and present the scholarly literature on a topic related to a strategic initiative for the organization. The synthesis should present the relationship between ideas, arguments, perspectives, and applications addressed in the scholarly articles and summarize their relevance to the topic.
